The Rise and Fall
The Magnon Empire rules over most all of Veles. Though there are a few remaining kingdoms and tribes in the more remote regions of the continent, none can compare to the scope of the Empire.
By 1000 ME, the town of Atlas began to be built around the Pendragon Castle walls, making it one of the first cities on the Continent. This head start was crucial in the Empire’s history as around 4500 ME the Magnus kingdom began to expand out of the thriving city of Atlas into the surrounding area. The surrounding plains were under the Empire’s control and renamed to The Crown Plains around 5060 ME. Shortly thereafter, the Empire sought to expand its reach so it waged war with the Gunarakz Highlands. The bitter Seventy-Five Years’ War ensued and was a bitter and long effort, but when the Magnus family finally took control of Cold Bank the Gunarakz Nationalists finally had to submit to the authority of the Empire. From that point the Empire had enough momentum and resources to conquer the remaining regions of Veles. No other region had the resources or the unity to put up a legitimate fight against the Empire.
Today, the Empire is under the direct leadership of his majesty, King Charles Magnus V. He is the 67th emperor with several direct heirs to the throne including Crown Prince Harald Magnus III, second prince Drest Magnus, third prince Talorgon Magnus VI, and princess Hildegarde Magnus. As the empire has gained control of most all of the continent of Veles, it has shifted focus to the New Land, a previously little explored area, to expand its dominion.
